RTS has commenced a detailed programme of works to gain UKAS ISO 27001 accreditation.

ISO 27001 information security management systems certification will provide RTS with a framework for creating an information security management system which identifies the real risks to our organisation and ensures that RTS have the controls in place to mitigate and manage those risks.

Being independently certified to means that our customers can rely on the integrity of our information security practices and that RTS can demonstrate control over future security threats.

ISO 27001 information security management systems will also help RTS to fully adhere with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance.

RTS has set a timetable of 6 months to complete the pre-assessment and to gain accrediation.

QT300 Controller ModuleRTS has recently completed a Sound Masking installation for a corporate client in central London incorporating 3 zones and 122 emitters.

RTS installed a Cambridge Sound Management QT300 control module, capable of multi zone installations up to 36,000 square feet. The QT300 was connected to 122 individual emitters across 3 independent zones.

This system is capable of covering up to 3 diverse areas in buildings needing improved speech privacy. Configuration of the system was through the QT300 web browser interface or the front panel which can be locked out to avoid unauthorised tampering.

Why Sound Masking?

Sound Masking is the process of adding to an environment a low level of unobtrusive background sound engineered to protect confidentiality and reduce distractions by reducing the intelligibility of speech, thus making the acoustical environment more comfortable.

Most workplaces today feature more open spaces and smaller, and often shared, workstations. Less sound absorptive materials are being used such as lower or non-existent partitions, hard or glass surfaces, and thinner walls and doors. This creates acoustical challenges that negatively impact workplace satisfaction, productivity and speech privacy.

Lord’s Ground, located in north west London, is recognised worldwide as the “Home of Cricket”. Owned by Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), Lord’s is also home to Middlesex County Cricket Club, the England and Wales Cricket Board and the European Cricket Council, as well as one of the world’s oldest sporting museums.

The Challenge

In 2013, MCC unveiled a masterplan to redevelop Lord’s to maintain its position as the most prestigious ground in the world at which to watch and play cricket. As part of the phased development, the existing Warner Stand was demolished at the end of the 2015 season and a new £25 million state-of-the-art stand was opened by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh in May 2017.

With a capacity of 2,656, the striking new stand has been designed to deliver an enhanced spectator experience for MCC Members and their guests, and includes a significant upgrade to catering and entertainment facilities which will be in use throughout the year.

The Solution

As part of the upgrade, Lord’s selected a complete, end-to-end Exterity IP video and digital signage solution to deliver high-quality live TV and digital signage throughout the Warner Stand, including bar and catering areas and match control facility. The solution was deployed by leading systems integrator RTS, working closely with the Technology Department at Lord’s.

The Result

Exterity AvediaStream HDCP Encoders securely deliver content-protected live Sky and BT Sports channels – which, of course, include live cricket matches – to screens around the Warner Stand, J.P. Morgan Media Centre and new scorers’ box, ensuring viewers never miss a second of the action.

Lord’s also records non-televised county cricket matches: live camera feeds are fed into an existing RF system which are in turn captured by an Exterity AvediaStream TVgateway and streamed as channels over the IP network. The single TVgateway blade also delivers all UK Freeview channels.

Exterity ArtioSign digital signage solution – which is integrated into every Exterity AvediaServer and AvediaPlayer Media Player – is used in the bar, catering areas and the lobby to display drink menus and pricing, sponsor adverts and to promote Lord’s Shop and cricket store merchandise on match days. ArtioSign is also used to create personalised, branded signage screens for meetings and conferences held on non-match days.

Sound Masking is the addition of an unobtrusive background sound, similar to airflow, to reduce the intelligibility of human speech and to reduce distractions. The resulting environment leads to greater productivity and increased privacy and comfort.

Corporate offices feature a variety of workspaces that require their own unique solutions for improving worker comfort, productivity, and speech privacy. Modern open offices contain far more reflective materials, such as glass and wood, than ever before. Then, combine those factors with more benching and less private offices. While these changes have made workplaces more aesthetically pleasing and collaborative, it has also affected the acoustics.Sound Masking in corporate settings, such as the ones described above, help improve the acoustic environment. This enables employees to feel more comfortable and less distracted at work.

RTS was approached to design and install a multi zone sound masking solution as part of an office refurbishment in central London. The space was a combination of open planned office spaces, communal hallways and private meeting rooms.

QT300 Controller Module

Qt emitters are wide dispersion direct field speakers with 1.25” (3.17 cm) drivers and are smaller than a coffee mug. All Qt emitters come in the adjustable format. These emitters deliver four uncorrelated audio channels, which provide uniform, unobtrusive sound masking. This feature, along with plug and play installation and easy configuration capability, make Qt® systems the most intelligently engineered and most effective sound masking systems on the market today.

RTS installation engineers worked alongside various tradespeople to ensure that the sound masking installation was delivered on schedule and to budget.
